A young child who is believed to be gravely sick, the kid’s mom and one sibling arrived in Norway the previous evening. Staff from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs went with the family on their journey to Norway, with help from the Norwegian police.
The decision to provide assistance to enable the family’s return to Norway was taken on humanitarian grounds because of fears that one of the children is seriously ill. I am satisfied that we will currently have the option to conclude this troublesome consular case. I might want to thank every one of the individuals who have added to this work,’ said Minister of Foreign Affairs Ine Eriksen Søreide.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs worked with many agencies and diplomats to encourage the family’s safe return to Norway. The mother was arrested once she landed in Norway on charges of Terrorism. She is being charged with participation in two terrorist organizations in Syria. She will remain in custody of the authorities until a trial date is set.
‘These children need a calm environment and must be shielded from public attention. I hope that this will be respected,’ Ms Eriksen Søreide said.
