Businesses are the lifeline of any economy. And when you are located in one of Canada’s northernmost provinces such as Nunavut, your role in the community is vital. Buts just like the rest of the country, they when into lockdown as the various engulf several small communities.

Today, the Department of Economic Development and Transportation (EDT) announced the government plans to distribute COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) and masks, free of charge, to businesses across Territory.

The additional COVID aid is to help businesses maintain their operations safely and in line with those of the neighbouring territories and provinces across the country.

“These supplies are intended to support the health and safety of employees and to assist with business continuity and supply chain stability in Nunavut. As such, these RATs and masks are not for resale or public distribution.

“All Nunavut businesses are eligible to apply. Applications for businesses interested in receiving RATs and masks are available at, and may be submitted to, each Regional Economic Development Office.” Said, Erika Zell, Director, Policy Planning and Communications Department of Economic Development and Transportation

Nunavut is one of the most beautiful places to visit in all of Canada, especially from April to October when the Northern Lights illuminate the skies. As the territory looks to move forward in an almost post-pandemic world, they are happily doing their part to prevent any further outbreaks of COVID-19.
