Road to Eindhoven Gets Closer as UEFA Releases Pairings for Quarter Finals and Semifinals in Women’s Champions League ‘23
The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has released pairings for quarterfinals and semifinals in the exciting 2023 Women’s Champions League series.
In a ceremony held in Nyon, Switzerland, on February 10, F.C. Bayern Munchen of Germany drew Arsenal Women F.C. of England for the first quarter-final game billed for 18:45 C.E.T., while AS Roma of Italy will contend with last year’s finalist, F.C. Barcelona of Spain in the second game of the night at 21:00 C.E.T. on March 21, 2023.
Defending champions Olympique Lyonnais of France will wrestle with Chelsea FC of England at 18:45 C.E.T. on March 22, 2023, while Paris Saint Germain of France will be at home to face the challenge from VfL Wolfsburg of Germany in the second game at 21:00 C.E.T.
Return leg quarter-final games will come up a week after. Semifinal games are billed for 22-30 April. Winners of the quarter-final game four will confront winners of quarter-final game 1 in the first semifinal match. In contrast, winners of quarter-final game two will encounter winners of quarter-final game three in the other semifinal pairing.
The Women’s Champions League final will be held on June 3, 2023, at the P.S.V. Stadion, Eindhoven, Holland. Olympique Lyonnais of France was triumphant in last year’s colorful final in Torino, Italy, after subduing F.C. Barcelona of Spain 3-1 in a gripping and entertaining final game that saw the French team reaching a milestone of eight Champions League trophies.
